BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Bellingham Police arrested a man Friday accused of attacking his mother.

According to Lieutenant Murphy, 33-year-old Sergio Moreno-Tapia lived in an apartment with his mother and had a disagreement over his intoxication.

He repeatedly punched his mother and attempted to strangle her and threatened to kill her.

She tried to call 911 but was stopped so she ran to a neighbor who called 911.

He dragged her back to their apartment and continued to assault her, ordering her to stay in a bedroom.

When police arrived, Moreno-Tapia was arrested without incident and booked on multiple charges including domestic assault in the second and fourth degrees, unlawful imprisonment, felony harassment, and interfering with reporting of domestic violence.
