BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Police say a suspect in an attempted Bellingham bank robbery wanted to be arrested.

KIRO reports officers were called to the bank in the 1500 block of Cornwall Avenue just before noon Wednesday after they heard reports of a man, later identified as 42-year-old Charles Gallaher, who walked into the bank with a golf club and indicated he was robbing them.

Further investigation revealed that Gallaher had not been armed and had quickly indicated he was there to get arrested.

Bellingham Police took him into custody and booked him into the Whatcom County Jail for investigation of robbery.
