BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A Bellingham man wanted on identity theft charges landed himself behind bars for committing even more crimes.
Court documents state that several people called police on August 20th after their cars were burglarized at Lake Whatcom Park.
At least two witnesses said that their credit cards had since been used at several stores throughout Whatcom County.
Surveillance videos showed two male suspects wearing distinct Seahawks and Raiders jerseys entering some of those locations.
Receipts from a sports store later confirmed that those jerseys were purchased with the stolen credit cards.
One of the suspects, 31-year-old Michael Ackerman, was arrested on a separate domestic violence charge on August 31st.
Ackerman is accused of breaking down the door of his spouse’s home and putting them in a headlock.
He remains at the Whatcom County Jail on $145,000 bail.
