BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A Bellingham manufacturer has launched a revolution in water craft.
All American Marine built and on Wednesday launched the nation’s first zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell boat.
The Sea Change is a 70-foot, 75 passenger catamaran with electric drive that’s powered by hydrogen fuel cells.
Owner SWITCH Maritime will operate the ferry in the California Bay area.
The Sea Change is undergoing sea trials out of Squalicum Harbor, and the technology still has to be permitted by the Coast Guard.
All American says the craft will “accelerate the decarbonization and energy transition of the US maritime sector.”
