As young people gather to march for school safety in Washington DC, a large number of students plan a similar event here in Bellingham on Saturday.
Izzy Jones, an organizer of the Bellingham March For Our Lives, hopes this march will spark the conversation locally.
“We all have different opinions on the right way to handle school safety, but we all agree that they should happen in the first place, so [this march] is a place to gather and talk about these things,” she says.
She says they’ll gather at Bellingham City Hall at 10 a.m. where a few will speak about school safety and gun control, then they’ll march through downtown Bellingham.
