OLYMPIA, Wash. — A Bellingham nursing assistant is in hot water after he was caught with drugs while on the job.

The Washington State Department of Health suspended the nursing assistant credential of James Alexander Galen-Abbitt and he is now awaiting trial on charges of possessing cocaine and MDMA, also known as “Molly.”

The DOH says that while Galen-Abbitt was caring for a patient with developmental disabilities at his apartment in downtown Bellingham, the Whatcom Gang and Drug Task Force and the Bellingham Police Department SWAT Team served a search warrant for illegal drugs.

Police found cocaine, LSD, Molly, and hallucinogenic mushrooms along with four firearms, two of which were assault-style rifles.
