BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A Bellingham parent has been charged for leaving a sleeping child in a car during 95-degree temperatures Sunday.

Police Lt. Claudia Murphy says the child was noticed after being in the vehicle alone for 8 minutes by an employee of the store where the vehicle was parked.

Officers determined the parent left the sleeping child and entered the business to use the restroom, and didn’t return for at least 10 minutes.

Aid workers removed the child from the vehicle and found them to be OK.

The parent has been charged with reckless endangerment and the child transferred from their care.
