BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The Bellingham Police Association and Alaska Airlines came to the rescue of a woman who was apparently the target of a scammer.

A post on the BPD Facebook page says the family of the 79-year-old disabled woman from Texas told police they were concerned after she had flown to Bellingham on June 2nd.

The vulnerable woman thought she was going to meet a man who was going to marry her and take her back to Texas.

The woman and her family have a very limited income and she couldn’t afford airfare home.

Alaska Airlines offered a reduced fare and the Bellingham Police Association paid for the ticket.
