BELLINGHAM, Wash. – An ex-Bellingham police officer pleaded guilty to a domestic violence charge.
Jacob Esparza’s ex-wife said he choked her and threatened to kill her last November when she went to his home in Lynden to pick up their children.
He was already on paid leave from the Bellingham Police Department for getting into a drunken fight at a local sports bar earlier last year.
The Bellingham Herald reports the police chief fired Esparza last December.
He was sentenced to 364 days in jail, with all but two days suspended.
