BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The Bellingham Police Department has a new addition — a one year old English Labrador named Raven.
K-9 Raven and her human partner, Officer Ben Horton, have been together for about two weeks and will be in training for the next few months toward accreditation in explosive detection.
Officer Horton is one of four certified bomb technicians at BPD, and is on a short list of bomb technicians to be called nationally should the need arise.
K-9 Raven was donated to the department by Keeping K-9s in Kevlar, who has also donated the kevlar vests protecting the department’s other K-9 officers.
