BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A new survey ranks Washington State high in diverse business ownership but Bellingham is far behind the state’s average.
According the data compiled from financial website Smartest Dollar, only 6.1% of businesses in Bellingham are minority-owned.
In comparison, the state as a whole clocked in at 15.2%.
The Bellingham and the Yakima regions both have the lowest ratios of minority-owned businesses.
The best place in the state for minority owned businesses is down south in the Vancouver area.
The Seattle metro area ranked second in the state.
