BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A Bellingham rental management company is responding to accusations it is among landlords in the state violating a moratorium on evictions.

KING-5 posted an email a tenant says is from Landmark Real Estate demanding a payment in violation of the statewide eviction moratorium.

But Landmark Real Estate owner Troy Muljat says they’re complying with the moratorium.

Muljat says the company is sympathetic to the extreme economic challenges now being faced by many tenants, and urges them to discuss their circumstances with their landlord.

The state attorney general has not opened an investigation involving Landmark, and Muljat says the company is committed to abiding by state law and working toward fair and equitable solutions for tenants and landlords
