BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Data from Bellingham will be used to quantify local and statewide walking and cycling numbers.

The City of Bellingham says this is the tenth year the city has been included as a “count city” in the Washington State Department of Transportation’s project to count active bicyclists and pedestrians.

The numbers will be used by state agencies to estimate demand, measure the benefits of bicycle and pedestrian projects and improve policies.

The City announced that volunteers are needed to help during the count from September 25-27.
