WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – The Bellingham School District’s bond measure is squeaking by after the latest ballot count.
The bond is now passing with 60.6% of the vote in favor of the $122 million measure that would finance several projects including construction of a new elementary school.
It requires a 60% majority to pass and was trailing slightly after Tuesday night’s initial count.
A bond that would fund a new library in Birch Bay is still failing with just under 57% of the vote.
In Ferndale, voters are approving a Levy Replacement to pay for on-going programs and operations.
That only requires a simple majority to pass but has strong support.
Voter turnout was low with just over 37% of ballots returned at this point.
