BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Bellingham School District says the state Department of Health is updating how schools should move forward as the mask mandate is removed.

Superintendent Dr. Greg Baker says in a statement that guidance on masking, distancing and other measures to mitigate virus transmission will become more recommendations than mandates.

He says students, faculty and staff will be free to choose whether or not to wear a mask when school convenes on Monday, March 14.

He asks that everyone show respect and mutual concern for the choices people make.
