BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Workers and customers at the Bellingham Social Security Administration building huddled under a shelter-in-place order following a threat Thursday.

Customers gathered in a hallway away from doors and windows and staff stayed behind closed doors for about an hour in the early afternoon before business returned to normal.

Police vehicles filled the parking lot on Alabama Street while the unspecified threat was investigated.

It’s unclear whether anyone was arrested.
