BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Bellingham residents will be able to vote on a continuation of the city’s transportation tax in November.

The City Council voted unanimously Monday night to ask voters to extend the 0.2% sales tax for another 10 years.

The tax was initially ok’d by voters in 2010 to establish a Transportation Benefit District and is set to expire in March 2021.

It has generated about $5 million per year for vehicle, non-motorized and pedestrian transportation projects and to help fund local bus service.
