BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Walmart has launched a program in Bellingham to help save the bees.

Walmart has planted a total of 21 pollinator gardens at retail locations throughout Washington, Oregon and North Carolina, seeking to increase pollinator populations while beautifying store grounds.

The company hopes the initiative will inspire customers, associates and community members to plant their own pollinator gardens to attract bees and butterflies who they say have suffered population declines in recent decades.

The Bellingham store is one of 14 locations in Washington with pollinator gardens.
