BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A Bellingham woman who hit her 5-year-old son in the head with a metal hammer was sentenced to just under two years in prison last week.
Hanna Leah Moen was arrested in February after the boy’s father, Cody Dandliker, came home to find the boy with an injury to the back of his head that caused a concussion and needed stitches.
Court documents show the boy told Dandliker and social workers that his mother hit him with the hammer “because everything was annoying her” and later tried to block Dandliker from taking him to the hospital.
Despite mental health concerns, Moen was found competent to stand trial.
