BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A Bellingham woman experiencing drug-induced hallucinations was arrested after attempting to set her apartment on fire.
Court documents state that a fire was reported at the building on Friday night.
Bellingham Fire officials determined that the fire began in a bedroom and appeared intentionally set.
Crews also noticed the suspect leaving the scene.
When confronted, the suspect claimed that demons had told her to set the room on fire.
The suspect’s former partner also told officers that she had threatened him and her child with a knife shortly before the fire broke out.
The suspect, 36-year-old Lisa Sirrs, was taken into custody and faces arson, reckless endangerment, and harassment charges.
