BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Bellingham closed its emergency warming site Tuesday after a week of operation.
The center downtown at Depot Market Square helped at least 100 people escape the snow and bitter cold.
Service providers checked with the people seeking shelter regularly and were on site as the center was closed.
The Parks and Recreation Department set-up and managed the site and other city staff and dozens of community volunteers kept it running.
The center was closed as scheduled as the city is under contract to provide the space for the Farmers Market on Saturday.
