Bellingham Bells catcher Chase Illig has been named the West Coast League Player of the Week for July 17-23.  He started his week winning the WCL All-Star Home Run Derby in Yakima then went 9-for-19 with five home runs and 14 RBI’s when play resumed after the All-Star Break.

For the season Illig is tied for the league lead with 11 home runs.  He is hitting .354 and is third in the WCL with 40 runs batted in.

Illig is a sophomore-to-be at West Virginia.
