OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Washington State Legislature has approved the prohibition of the manufacture, distribution and sale of firearm magazines that hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition.
The bill passed the Senate last month and cleared the House late Friday night, March 4th.
It now heads to Governor Jay Inslee for his signature.
The measure would limit magazines for rifles that hold 20 or 30 rounds and for pistols that carry more than 10 rounds.
It does not prohibit the possession of such magazines.
Violations would be a gross misdemeanor with a sentence of up to 364 days in county jail, a maximum fine of up to $5,000, or both.
