OLYMPIA, Wash – Whatcom County Prosecutor Dave McEachran inspired a bill that will become law with the governor’s signature.

The legislature passed a measure that extends the statute of limitations for Attempted Murder from three years to 10 years.

We reported on Wednesday that prosecutors believe someone hired a man to murder a Ferndale woman.

She survived and the man who police say tried to murder her killed himself during a police chase.

His wife is serving a 40 year prison sentence for helping him.

But police still haven’t been able to gather enough evidence to arrest the person who hired the man and the three-year statute of limitations could bring an end to the case.
