RENTON, Wash. (AP) — Music icon Jimi Hendrix will now have a post office near his gravesite in Renton named after him.
The Seattle Times reports last week a bill was signed into law re-christening the Renton Highlands Post Office the James Marshall “Jimi” Hendrix Post Office in honor of the legendary guitarist.
The bill was sponsored by Rep. Adam Smith of Bellevue and was supported by the other members of the Washington state delegation in the House as well as both Washington Senators, Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell.
It’s the latest tribute to the Seattle native, with the latest coming in June 2017 the Jimi Hendrix Park opened in Seattle’s Central District.
