BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Beaches in northern Whatcom County are once again temporarily closed to shellfish harvest.

The Whatcom County Health Department announced Wednesday that beaches from Birch Bay north to the Canadian border are closed due to high levels of biotoxins in recent lab tests.

The closure includes all of Birch Bay, Drayton Harbor, and Point Roberts.

Beaches from Bellingham Bay south to the Skagit County border also remain closed.
