BIRCH BAY, Wash. — Shellfish harvest closures expand in northern Whatcom County as biotoxin levels rise.
Paralytic shellfish poisoning has been detected on beaches in Birch Bay and Drayton Harbor.
The Department of Health has closed recreational harvest of all species of shellfish on beaches from Sandy Point North to the Canadian Border, including Point Roberts.
