BLAINE, Wash. — Alicia Rule, a Democrat on the Blaine City Council, announced Monday that she is joining the race for Washington’s 42nd district representative – a position currently held by Republican Luanne Van Werven.

Rule is a fifth-generation Whatcom County resident who owns a small business in Bellingham and has championed for Downtown Blaine redevelopment as well as small business and job growth in north Whatcom County.

She says her priorities are affordable housing, job growth and the economy, and veteran support.
