BLAINE, Wash. — A Blaine man faces attempted murder and arson charges after officers say he intentionally set fire to an occupied RV and threatened them with a knife.

The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to a call about a structure fire in the 8000 block of Fir Way in Blaine late Saturday night and arrived to find an RV on fire and an argumentative male suspect on the scene.

The suspect, 29-year-old Spencer Langei, brandished a knife and threatened both sheriff and fire personnel.

Deputies were able to take him into custody and an investigation revealed that Langei lived with a woman in the RV and he intentionally started a fire while she was taking a shower inside.

She was not injured, but the sheriff’s office says the RV was damaged extensively.
