SKAGIT COUNTY, Wash. – A Blaine man was seriously injured when he crashed his car on I-5 and then was hit by another vehicle early Saturday.
The State Patrol reports 26-year-old Peter I. Kovtun was southbound near the Alger Exit at about 2 a.m. when he lost control of his BMW.
His car hit the guardrail to the right then came to rest in the left lane of the freeway.
He was outside of the car when an SUV driven by Fu D. Ren of Vancouver B.C. hit him and the BMW.
Ren wasn’t hurt.
The trooper on the scene says both drivers were going too fast for conditions.
Drugs or alcohol were not factors in either crash.
