BLAINE, Wash. – A Blaine Police Officer will receive a Life-Saving Service award for her actions after finding a driver in distress during a traffic stop last month.

Officer Katelyn Weaver stopped a driver for speeding July 19th and noticed the driver slurring his speech and fumbling for his license when she approached the vehicle.

The driver then slumped forward, and started shaking and aspirating.

Weaver pulled the man from the car and began CPR because he was no longer breathing and had no pulse.

She continued life-saving measures until North Whatcom Fire and Rescue arrived.

The driver was transported to PeaceHealth St. Joseph’s Hospital where he is recovering.
