BLAINE, Wash. — The Blaine Police Department is warning of a new mobile text message scam.
Scammers are sending text messages that appear to come from Verizon telling you to click a link and validate your account before your account access is disabled.
If the link is clicked, it goes to a website that looks identical to Verizon’s login page with instructions to validate account security.
If you enter your credentials, the scammers will have your login information and can take over your account.
Blaine police urge the public to be wary of links in text messages and never use the same password for multiple accounts.
