BLAINE, Wash. — A new study says Blaine is one of the best places to retire.
Financial advisory website SmartAsset ranked Blaine the 9th best place in Washington to retire based on tax rates, the number of senior residents, and the availability of doctors’ offices, recreation centers and retirement centers.
The study calculated effective tax rates based on a typical retiree earning $35,000 a year and spending their income on taxable goods.
Blaine’s effective tax rate is 16.1 percent.
