BLAINE, Wash. – Blaine voters are being asked to approve a new levy.
The Blaine School District is asking for an additional 5 cents per thousand dollars assessed value in 20-19 and 20-20 property taxes to pay for technology and capital projects, and to prevent deferring maintenance on recent facility upgrades.
The District says even after the increase, Blaine’s school levy rate will still be well below that for Bellingham, Ferndale, Lynden and other area schools.
Whatcom County Auditor Debbie Adelstein says ballots for the special election will be in the mail Wednesday, April 4th.
Special Election day for the levy request is April 24th.
