BLAINE, Wash. — Several organizers in Ferndale and Bellingham have canceled their summer events to slow the spread of the coronavirus and now Blaine is following suit.
Hands Across the Border, Blaine’s Old Fashioned Fourth of July parade and fireworks, and the Blaine Harbor Music Festival have all been called off following recommendations from the Whatcom County Health Department.
The Northern Light reports some of Blaine Chamber of Commerce’s upcoming summer events, such as the Drayton Harbor Days maritime festival, will have their funding revoked by the City of Blaine.
Undersheriff Doug Chadwick says the Sheriff’s Office doesn’t yet have a plan for the popular Fourth of July festivities in Birch Bay, and they will assess the situation once it gets closer.
