Board looking for high school basketball officials

The Northwest Board of Basketball Officials is seeking members to referee high school and middle school boys and girls basketball games. The NWB is hosting a meeting at LaVenture Middle School in Mount Vernon Sunday, October 29th for anyone interested

The NWB provides officials for both boys and girls games in Whatcom, Skagit, Island, and San Juan counties. Members may choose to officiate boys basketball, girls basketball or both. Middle school games begin in November and high school games start after Thanksgiving.

“We need more men and women, from college students to retirees, to fill the important role that officials have in basketball,” said NWB president Ron Van Soest. “It’s a great way to be involved in the game and receive supplemental income.”

Training classes for new officials and returning members start at 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29 at LaVenture Middle School. For more information visit www.NorthwestBoard.com
