OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) – Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson and 19 other Democratic state attorneys general are calling for a special counsel to investigate Russian interference in the election.

White House spokesperson Sarah Sanders says they just want it to be over.

“We want this to come to it’s conclusion, we want it to come to it’s conclusion with integrity, and we think that we’ve actually, by removing Director Comey, taken steps to make that happen.”

The AGs call President Trump’s firing of FBI Director James Comey “violation of public trust.”

The group says only the appointment of an independent special counsel “with full powers and resources” can begin to restore public confidence.
