TUKWILA, Wash. (AP) — Environmental groups are suing Boeing for allegedly polluting a nearby river.
KOMO reports Puget Soundkeeper and Waste Action Project say the Military Delivery Center plant in Tukwila is a hotbed for highly toxic polychlorinated biphenyls, which flow out as stormwater runoff into the Duwamish River and eventually enter the food chain.
The lawsuit says Boeing is violating the Clean Water Act.
Boeing says they have shown their commitment to to improving the health of the Duwamish River by investing in cleanup activities, stormwater treatment and habitat restoration for fish and wildlife.
Water quality tests in the Duwamish show high levels of PCBs, which are known to cause cancer.
