Border to remain closed until the U.S. can control COVID-19 case count, Trudeau says

VANCOUVER, BC — The border with Canada will remain closed until the U.S. can control COVID-19 case count, according to a CityNews report.

During an interview with a Winnipeg radio station, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Wednesday the border will not open anytime soon.

Trudeau said the U.S. is not in a place where he feels comfortable reopening borders.

“We see the cases in the United States and elsewhere around the world, and we need to continue to keep these border controls in place,” Trudeau said.

The land border has been closed to non-essential travel since mid-March.
