BOW, Wash. — A device invented by Bow, WA potato-farmers-turned-techies has solved a common issue amongst irrigation farmers locally and abroad.

FarmHQ is a small cellular-connected device that attaches to a farmer’s irrigation equipment.

The Skagit Valley Herald reports the technology allows different pieces of equipment to communicate, helping farmers to prevent wasting water or losing crops.

It also allows farmers to monitor irrigation remotely from a smartphone or computer.

The Bow-area startup has sold nearly 100 units in the U.S. and Canada.
