BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A man was booked into Whatcom County Jail after two separate fires last Friday.

Bellingham Police LT Claudia Murphy told KGMI a witness followed Mallik Jordan Goins from the area of the Faithlife building on Commercial Street around 8:20 that morning, after hearing a small explosion and finding a fire on a picnic table nearby.

Police arrested Goins soon after and Murphy said surveillance video showed him lighting the fire.

Roughly an hour later, officers were sent to investigate an ATM that had been damaged and set on fire at the Heritage Bank on York Street earlier that morning.

Surveillance video from 12:42am Friday allegedly showed Goins, wearing the same clothes as when he was apprehended, damaging and setting fire to the machine.

He was charged with two counts of 2nd degree arson and one count of 3rd degree malicious mischief with bond set at $15,000.
