BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Police say an 18-year-old was driving impaired when he ran a traffic light and hit a Bellingham Police evidence collection vehicle, injuring an officer.
The State Patrol investigated and says Blake G. Horsch of Bellingham was driving a pick-up truck east on Barkley Boulevard just after 2 a.m. Saturday when he ran the light at Orleans Street and hit the officer’s truck.
Bellingham Police say Horsch ran from the scene, leaving the injured officer and his drunk 17-year-old passenger behind.
Officers located and arrested him nearby.
The officer was taken to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center where he was treated and released.
Neither Horsch or his passenger, who was cited for Minor in Possession, were injured.
