WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – A burglar with a sweet tooth broke into Birch Bay’s C Shop last week.
The Northern Light reports that a witness saw a man kick the door of the sweet shop open and leave with a bag of candy early on Friday, July 31st.
Deputies responded and were able to track down 38-year-old Samuel Matamua of Bellingham, who they say admitted to taking a two pound bag of Sour Patch Kids, taffy, chocolate and a big lollipop.
He didn’t take any money or other valuables.
The C Shop has been closed because of the pandemic, and wrote on their Facebook page that the suspect must have been in desperate need of candy, but “missed out on all the good homemade stuff that was on the lower shelf of the display case!”
