BURLINGTON, Wash. — The Skagit County man accused of shooting a 23-year-old man to death in Burlington last week was arrested.

The Burlington Police Department in a release Wednesday confirmed the arrest of Christian Flores,  accused of the shooting death of Douglas J. Gunter at a Burlington gas station last Friday.

The Burlington PD says the arrest is thanks to a collaboration between several law enforcement agencies throughout the county.

The motive is unclear at this point, but Flores’ girlfriend says she received a message from him that day saying if she did not go see him, he would kill an innocent person. Others had suggested Flores mistook Gunter as a rival gang member, but Gunter has no gang ties.

19-year-old Flores will be booked into the Skagit County Jail.
