BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Local officials are preparing for upcoming warm weather with a burn ban.

The Whatcom County Fire Marshal’s Office announced they are enacting restrictions on open burning in unincorporated Whatcom County starting on Friday, July 12.

Residents must stop all land clearing and yard debris burning at that time and all issued burn permits will be suspended.

Recreational fires will still be allowed with the landowner’s permission, but they must meet a set of requirements set by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
