COLUMBIA VALLEY, Wash. — The Northwest Clean Air Agency has issued a Stage 2 Burn Ban in part of Whatcom County.
No indoor or outdoor wood burning is allowed in the Columbia Valley urban growth area, including the Peaceful Valley and Paradise Lakes developments, effective immediately.
The ban is in effect because of cold, calm air that is preventing harmful wood smoke from clearing out.
All outdoor fires, including burning of yard waste, are prohibited until further notice.
Violators could face fines and other enforcement actions.
