BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Bellingham Police K-9s continue to earn their treats with tireless crime fighting.

Last Monday, October 25th, an officer spotted a car reported stolen in Oak Harbor and saw two men get in it.

The driver fled an attempted traffic stop, but officers eventually found the vehicle parked near the Connelly Creek Trail in south Bellingham.

They called in K-9 Prowl who was happy to give pursuit until both men and a female accomplice were taken into custody.

Then a neighbor called 9-1-1 at noon Wednesday to report a burglary in progress after hearing glass breaking at a home on 35th Street.

Officers found a woman with a walkie talkie waiting in a car but a male suspect had fled.

K-9 Destro and his handler tracked him to a shed a few blocks away and he surrendered at Destro’s insistence and with the help of some chemical irritants.
