VANCOUVER, British Columbia – The release of thousands of Atlantic salmon near Cypress Island compelled First Nations leaders in British Columbia to call for action.
The Globe and Mail reported the leaders want the province to revoke salmon farm licenses.
B.C. Agriculture Minister Lana Popham told CTV that British Columbia’s new government campaigned on a promise to move fish farms out of the Salish Sea.
B.C. and Washington have the largest fish farm industries in their respective countries.
