BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A Canadian man shopping in Blaine won $400,000 from a State Lottery game that usually pays winners just $10,000.

The Spokesman-Review reported Thomas Grimme of White Rock picked the four winning numbers for the Match 4 game in December.

But instead of buying just one ticket, he bought 40 at the Blaine Cost Cutter, choosing the same four numbers on all of them.

Each ticket was worth $10,000.

The Lottery investigated the unusual win, but found it was legitimate.
