SUMAS, Wash. — A Canadian drug smuggler was sentenced to seven years in prison Friday after a failed smuggling attempt near Sumas.
The Department of Justice says 41-year-old Nathan Hall and another smuggler tried to bring 20 kilos of ecstasy across the Canadian border into Sumas in 2013, but Hall was able to run back into Canada when confronted by Border Patrol.
After five years Hall was extradited back for trial in U.S. District Court in Seattle.
Hall pleaded guilty in November to conspiracy to distribute drugs.
